New Shoes

For a Christmas gift, I decided to make shoes for my 5 month old nephew for Christmas. Of course I had no experience with crocheting baby booties, so this was all new to me. I am happy they turned out as great as they did.

Never give up on your dreams

One of my family's friends came out with a book this week.. my family is ecstatic for her, more me than anyone else.

I was talking to my mother and I mentioned to her that this means, no one should ever give up on their dreams no matter what that dream is.

When I was 14 years old my father walked into my room and asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said an artist.. he then told me that I should be more realistic because it would not happen because it did not happen for him. Thankfully, I do not get defeated easy, it was just the boost I needed to make sure it happened and I knew I had to prove him wrong.

Today I have sculptures all over the U.S as well as Germany, Canada and Japan.

No matter how old or young you are, never give up on your dreams. If someone says you can't do something, let that be the boost you need to prove them wrong.

Going to work on creative something today

Going to work on creative something today, Exactly what I do not know. Last week I got hot pink crochet thread. I have been thinking of crocheting a hot pink romper for a mini baby. I also need to start on some booties from some yarn I got.

New boxes

One of the things I like is Hello Kitty. I decided to organize everything, Target just got really nice portable, collapsible storage stuff. I just got this bin for my shelf. as well as this chest for my crochet thread. I love that it's lightweight and can easily be moved. and if I get sick of it I can fold it and put it away.

Older babies

These babies are babies I made in 2005. I do not know why they have letters attached to the picture. I am hoping I find their certificate pictures so I can put them on my facebook page.


As you can see I improved a lot between 2005 and 2006. back then all my babies had outie belly buttons. ha. I have not sculpted a full sculpt anatomically correct baby since about this time.. I wonder if I would be improved. Maybe I should try it.

Spring Cleaning

I am spring cleaning the studio.. blah........

I have so much sculpting supplies, even when I was not sculpting or crafting, I was buying stuff cause I just knew I would get back into it.. now I have so much I do not know how to organize it.

I ended up going to target for crackers for my aunt and stopped in the home organization section and bought hot pink bin to put my mohair in, it works nicely.. they are all in glass jars, but brown mohair against a brown shelf just doesn't work... the pink adds color. I might need to buy some more bins later this month.

I have a lot of tutu making tulle.. and needle felting wool that needs to be out of sight..lets not mention fabric and crochet thread...the more cluttered something looks, the less creative I am. I need things organized and hidden away. the wool and tulle are organized but create visual clutter and to me looks messy even thought the glass jars with the wool in them are nice and neat.

I hope to tackle 1 shelf a day until it's done.

Sculpting this week

I hope to begin sculpting later this week and possibly start working on some baby clothes. I have a bunch of cute fabrics that I do not want to waste.

I first will be finishing some eggs for Easter, and starting on spring cleaning. Then hope to get into the baby stuff.

Time to create

I think I might be able to sculpt this weekend.. and write.. I am either writing an article or book on what it's like to grow up with undiagnosed disabilities... mostly sensory processing disorder. So I hope to be able to do both this weekend.

I am also adding neon pink hearts to my studio. Thanks to hot pink my room is being transformed from bland to totally awesomely bright. I am taking the snowflakes down and putting hearts up. I am not actually decorating for valentines, it's just that this time of year hot pink stuff is available to buy.

I plan on sculpting again this year, I bought some craft supplies friday and have been organizing my zillion balls of crochet thread. Next on the organizing list is fabric. I buy way too much stuff that I never end up using. I plan on making at least 1 outfit from each fabric and color of crochet thread this year.

Working on babies

I tried to switch to Christmas music.. but these babies only "want" to be created while I am listening to the Hollow ep. The music is really good so I am not complaining.. but I need to get these babies made A.S.A.P. I have about 9 or 10 babies that I am working some will be full babies, the others bundle babies. All of them will be miniature, about 6 inches.

Time for Christmas

It's officially time to kick off the Holiday season! I am putting up my Christmas tree today while watching A Christmas Story, and decorating the tree in very cool colors, not traditional colors at all.

Rest in Peace

When someone dies it's heartbreaking. I found out one of the only non related people I have ever known to support my art has died this week.

This person also an artist, whom I had known my entire life, When he discovered I could draw babies, instead of putting me down and telling me I would not succeed he passed along some art books and gave me some tips when I was learning to draw babies. He told me if I really wanted to be an artist, I would have to keep working. He would often ask me how the babies were coming along. During the turbulent times of life, he'd ask me if i was still doing art, he'd keep encouraging me to continue because I had the talent.

I am thankful I didn't give up. I am now an artist with baby sculptures world wide. I am very thankful for his support in my early years of discovering my talent. I am very thankful he never said I could not do this. I would not have been as successful if it had not been for him taking interest in me.

Thank you for the years of encouragement. I am not giving up.

It was sad to pack him up and see him go. He's a cutie!

Painting

I have been working on painting a baby,it's taking a lot longer than expected.
I hope to get some of the painting done today.

Working on a baby

I am finally working on a new baby. It's a biracial baby, most likely a boy as usual. I have the head and arms sculpted, will be working on the legs later tonight.

I was able to get Jack Johnston's 1/2 scale baby dolls dvd this week. But i have to admit, that i have been side tracked reading a book called Hollow by Jena Morrow.

Anyway I am hoping to balance out reading and working on dolls. And get this doll done this week.

10 Anniversary of Sculpting

I had deleted the blog, and was intending on bringing it back in Oct, the real start of my 10th anniversary of sculpting, but I got distracted with who knows what and forgot.

I had been 1 year too soon in the anniversary until my sister in law informed me that the year should start in Oct, not January of my 9th year.


So here we are in the real 10th Anniversary Year!
